LAN Network for Connectivity in the Uleam Software Laboratory, El Carmen Extension Red LAN para Conectividad en el Laboratorio de Software Uleam Extensión El Carmen

Abstract
The research was conducted in the software engineering laboratory at the Eloy Alfaro Lay University of Manabí (ULEAM), El Carmen Extension, with the objective of diagnosing connectivity deficiencies and proposing a structured LAN to optimize access to digital resources and the internet. A mixed-methods approach was adopted: quantitative to measure technical variables such as speed and capacity; and qualitative to gather user perceptions through interviews and surveys, using Cisco's PPDIOO framework, classifying the research as both descriptive and applied. An interview with the head of information technology revealed deficient infrastructure, including deteriorated cabling, outdated equipment, frequent outages during peak hours, congestion, and low security, impacting practical classes. Student surveys showed mostly poor or fair ratings for stability, speed, and wired connectivity. The results determined that the absence of a LAN generates instability and limits academic performance; the proposed implementation—structured cabling and high-capacity switches—would improve stability, speed, and security, strengthening the teaching and learning process
