Abstract

The project “Cross‑platform BaaS mobile system for the management of educational processes in the scientific conferences of the Universidad Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabí, El Carmen branch” had as its main objective the development of a technological solution to optimize the management of scientific conferences, based on the identification of an inefficient web system characterized by limitations in usability, lack of mobile accessibility, and insufficient automation of processes, which caused delays in registrations, errors in paper submissions, difficulties in payment receipt validation, and an excessive administrative workload that negatively affected event organization and decision‑making; to address this problem, a mixed research approach was applied, combining quantitative methods through surveys addressed to students and teachers and qualitative methods through interviews with administrative staff responsible for managing scientific conferences, allowing the analysis of the collected information and the design of a technological proposal consisting of a cross‑platform mobile application supported by a Backend as a Service architecture and complemented by a web‑based administrative panel, with the development carried out following the Scrum agile methodology organized in sprints, enabling flexible planning and continuous improvements, among the most relevant results a reduction in administrative errors, improved management of registrations and paper submissions, and a significant enhancement of user experience were evidenced, establishing the system as an effective technological tool that strengthens academic management of scientific conferences within the institution
