Abstract
This research aims to develop a web application for academic scheduling in the Software Engineering program at the Eloy Alfaro Lay University of Manabí, El Carmen Extension, in order to optimize the academic administrative processes that are currently performed manually. The study begins with an analysis of the existing problems, characterized by high time consumption, frequent human errors, scheduling conflicts between professors and classrooms, and the lack of a centralized system for consulting and managing schedules. It is supported by bibliographic research to provide a theoretical framework for the project and by field research through the collection of direct information from the stakeholders involved. To address this situation, a software development methodology based on the waterfall model was applied, adapted to the specific nature of the project and the previously defined requirements. The web application was developed using a three-tier architecture, employing modern web technologies for managing users, programs, levels, sections, shifts, subjects, professors, classrooms, and academic periods, allowing for the automatic and manual generation of schedules with real-time validation. The system also incorporates security mechanisms, role-based access control, and the generation of academic reports. The results obtained demonstrate a significant improvement in process efficiency, achieving an average reduction of 94.15% in execution times, as well as a notable decrease in errors and an improved user experience
